The multimedia museum is a museum and cultural center built by the local administration in collaboration with GALATA, "Mu.Ma" (Sea Museums) of Genoa and inaugurated in 2016.
Thanks to its innovative technologies, it is possible to discover the history of Carloforte, the Island of San Pietro, and its inhabitants.
The museum is developed across the three floors of the San Vittorio Tower, built in 1768 in honor of King Victor Amadeus III. In 1898, the Tower was converted into an Astronomical Station, and the International Geodetic Commission required it to be positioned on a specific geographic parallel, that of the median latitude of Carloforte (39° 08'). The Tower became one of the 5 international astronomical stations for the study of the precession of the equinoxes.
The museum route unfolds over the three floors of the San Vittorio Tower, each dedicated to a specific phase of Carloforte's history. The complete visit lasts about 45 minutes and offers an educational and engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
