Path Description
This stage is of great historical, cultural, geological, and landscape interest. Highlights include the large barite quarry at Rio Bacchera and the onyx quarry at Tattinu (Roman Quarry), which are currently neither accessible nor visible from the road. However, the main feature of this route is its archaeological heritage, ranging from the Sacred Well of Tattinu and the Byzantine church of Sant’Elia to the rich museum of Santadi, passing by the Giants’ Tomb of Sa Fraigada in Barrancu Mannu—one of the most important Nuragic-era sites in Sardinia. The path winds through the characteristic landscapes of large boulders and tafoni in the granite batholith of Lower Sulcis.
