Path Description
Another new stage, which at the end of the day takes us back by sea to the mother island after crossing the southern part of San Pietro. The route climbs through Mediterranean scrub over Mount Sepoltura, continues between the beach and the La Caletta dune, and reveals an interior made up of cultivated fields and wild landscapes, before reaching the only flat areas of the Sulcis island and the wetlands that precede the return to Carloforte, with the small environmental and productive jewel of the ancient salt pans. It is the best conclusion to an engaging two-day journey between the western and eastern ends of San Pietro—step by step among the sky, volcanic rocks, the emerald transparency of the sea, and the caruggi of the historic center.
