Discover the Villaggio Asproni, a mining village a short distance from the town of Iglesias. Built between the late 19th and early 20th century by the engineer Giorgio Asproni, manager and later owner of the mine, the village was created as a place to house the families of the employees, and where Asproni himself settled with his own.
The guided tour lasts about 2 hours and covers 10 stops along the perimeter of the village. Along the way you will see the church, the primary school, the company store and cellar, the management offices, the homes of managers, clerks and workers, as well as the Asproni family home.
Abandoned in the 1970s, the village is now at the heart of a recovery and redevelopment project. During the visit you will be able to see at first hand the initial clean-up and restoration works on some of its most important buildings.
