Born a few years after Carbonia — Italy's youngest town, founded in 1938 on Mussolini's orders — Cortoghiana shares its rationalist spirit, with miners' houses and squares laid out with geometric precision.

Together you'll visit the house-museum of the artist Roberto Meloni, with its remarkable murals, before continuing on to the pre-protohistoric complex of Corona Maria, home to a past far older than the mining era. The walk ends here, near the Cortoghiana pine forest.
