"On the Route of the Bluefin Tuna" - Boat Charter Excursions

We are Fabio and Tiziana, scuba diving instructors who, besides the recreational sport activity of teaching diving, love to accompany people (we are also swimming instructors for disabled individuals) to visit the coasts and seabeds of Sulcis Iglesiente to have unforgettable and unique experiences such as seeing the bluefin tunas in the cages of the Portoscuso Tuna Fishery.

We offer three different types of Charter boat excursions with our vessel, equipped with ten comfortable leather seats and a large canopy for shade, where guests will board from the dock of the tourist harbor of Portoscuso.

The Charters take place both in the morning, departing at 9:30 AM, and in the afternoon, departing at 2:30 PM, lasting approximately three hours with return variations dictated by wind weather conditions, with the note that if the sea is too rough, the excursion will be postponed to another date.

During our boat excursions, we rent snorkeling kits including mask and fins to admire the wonderful seabeds, and between dives, before returning, we offer a fresh aperitif featuring local wines and Sardinian cured meats to enjoy on board.

The cost of each excursion, including the snorkeling kit and onboard aperitif, is 140.00 euros per person, which will be 112.00 euros for holders of the Minera Card who want to try our sea experiences to alternate their walk on the CDSB trail and admire it from another perspective from the boat in the blue sea.

Charter Description:

A) Excursion to the Tuna Fishery at Portoscuso sea: in front of the coast of Capo Altano where the suggestive panoramic pedestrian road overlooks, which includes the CDSB and from which our Charter activity "On the Route of the Bluefin Tuna" takes its name.

Once at the tuna fishery point, where the tuna fishermen perform the ancient tuna slaughter fishing and where the tuna cages are located, we will provide the snorkeling kit to admire the bluefin tunas from the sea surface under our supervision and in total safety.

The experience will be breathtaking and cannot be repeated with activities other than ours since only Diving Coral Reef has authorization to approach the tuna fishery at sea and bring tourists.

From the tuna fishery, we will move to take more dives or sunbathe on board or on the dock or the rocks of the suggestive Lighthouse of the Ghinghetta rock in front of the town of Portoscuso.

Here at the Lighthouse, we will have a refreshing aperitif before returning to the base in Portoscuso; during navigation, we will approach the old tuna fishermen's village called "Su Pranu" to see from the sea the boats used in the past for tuna fishing; those interested can visit it on land in the historic center of Portoscuso.

B) Excursion to Pan di Zucchero: during navigation to reach the majestic Pan di Zucchero, which everyone knows at least by name, we will make several stops with mooring to snorkel in front of the Lamarmora laundry rich in small caves and in the small beaches and coves like Porto Flavia and Portu Banda.

We will pass in front of the 2 stacks to head towards the large stack of Pan di Zucchero where we will enjoy the aperitif protected by the surrounding rock walls.

We will pass inside Pan di Zucchero and then visit the Blue Grotto and other nearby inlets before returning to Portoscuso.

C) Carloforte Excursion: this charter will be marked by many dives in the sea surrounding the fascinating Island of San Pietro; during navigation, guests can admire the very small and private Isola Piana, then we will make many stops along the coast of Carloforte with snorkeling in the small caves of Cala Vinagra and Punta delle Oche and the unmissable onboard aperitif accompanied by the crystal-clear sea notes of the Island.
