"On the Bluefin Tuna Route" - Charter Boat Excursions

We are Fabio and Tiziana, diving instructors who, in addition to the recreational sporting activity of teaching scuba diving, love to accompany people (we are also swimming instructors for the disabled) to visit the coasts and seabeds of Sulcis Iglesiente to have unforgettable and unrepeatable experiences such as seeing the red tuna in the cages of the Tonnara di Portoscuso.

We offer three different types of charter boat excursions with our vessel, equipped with ten comfortable seats in leather armchairs and a large awning for shade, on which guests will embark from the dock of the tourist port of Portoscuso.

The charters will take place both in the morning with departure at 9.30 and in the afternoon with departure at 14.30 and will have an approximate duration of three hours with return variations dictated by the weather and wind conditions. It should be noted that if the sea is too rough the excursion will be postponed to another date.

During our boat excursions we rent a mask and fins kit for snorkeling and admiring the wonderful seabed. Between one dive and another, before returning, we offer a fresh aperitif based on local wines and Sardinian cured meats to enjoy on board.

The cost of each excursion, including the snorkeling kit and an aperitif on board, is 140.00 euros per person, which will become 112.00 euros for Minera Card holders who wish to try our experiences at sea to alternate their walk on the CDSB trail and admire it from another perspective from the boat in the middle of the blue.

Charter Description:

A) Excursion to the Tonnara in mare of Portoscuso: in front of the coast of Capo Altano where the suggestive panoramic pedestrian road overlooks which includes the CDSB and from which our Charter activity "On the Red Tuna Route" takes its name.

Once we reach the tuna fishing site, where the tuna fishermen carry out the ancient tuna slaughter and where the tuna cages are located, we will provide you with the snorkeling kit to admire the bluefin tuna on the bottom from the surface of the sea and this will take place under our supervision and in complete safety.

The experience will be breathtaking and cannot be repeated with other activities other than ours as only we at Diving Coral Reef have the authorization to approach the tuna fishery in the sea and to take tourists

From the tuna fishery we'll move on to take more dives or sunbathe on board or on the dock or rocks of the evocative Ghinghetta lighthouse opposite the town of Portoscuso.

Here at the lighthouse we will have a refreshing aperitif before returning to the base in Portoscuso. During the navigation we will stop in front of the old tuna fishing village called "Su Pranu" to see from the sea the boats that were used in the past for tuna fishing. Those who wish can visit it from land in the historic center of Portoscuso.

B) Excursion to Pan di Zucchero: during the navigation to reach his majesty Pan di Zucchero that we all know at least by fame, we will make several stops with mooring to snorkel in front of the Lamarmora washery full of small caves and in the small beaches and coves such as Porto Flavia and Portu Banda

We will pass in front of the 2 Faraglioni to head towards the large Faraglione del Pan di Zucchero where we will enjoy an aperitif protected by the rocky walls that surround it.

We will pass inside the Pan di Zucchero and then we will go to visit the Blue Grotto and other nearby coves before returning towards Portoscuso.

C) Carloforte Excursion: This charter will feature plenty of dips in the sea surrounding the charming San Pietro Island. During the sail, guests will admire the small, private Piana Island. We'll then make numerous stops along the Carloforte coast, snorkeling in the small caves of Cala Vinagra and Punta delle Oche, and enjoying the inevitable aperitif on board, accompanied by the sounds of the island's crystal-clear sea.
