Here you are in Cortoghiana, along the stage of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail connecting Carbonia to Nuraxi Figus. Founded in the 1940s, the town retains the rationalist urban layout typical of the mining settlements of Sulcis, with its geometric squares and houses originally built to accommodate miners' families. A local guide will lead you on a journey of discovery through the town, weaving the story of its places with a personal and family history: that of their mother, who was born in Masua and moved to Cortoghiana as a young child. This story of migration and change brings a human perspective to the history of the mining community. The route continues with a visit to the house museum of artist Roberto Meloni, where you can discover his works and murals, before reaching the archaeological complex of Corona Maria, which preserves traces of a past far older than the mining era. The itinerary ends near the pine forest of Cortoghiana, after exploring stories, places and testimonies from different historical periods.
